Submitting Scrapbooking Page Layouts to Magazines

Here are general guidelines for submitting your layouts to scrapbooking magazines.
- Do not send your original layouts--take photographs of your layouts
or have color copies made and submit those. If your layout is chosen
for publication, the magazine will contact you and request that you
send them your original layout.
- When taking photographs of your layouts, remove the page protectors. Try to take the photo outside during the day in even light, not direct light, avoiding shadows.. If you photograph your layout inside, take the photo from an angle to avoid or reduce the glare from the flash.
- When making color copies of 12x12 scrapbook pages, have the copy made on 11x17 paper at a 91% reduction or on regular paper at a __% reduction.
- When scanning your layouts to e-mail to the magazine, save the image in JPEG format and resize it so that the dpi is 72 and the width is 500 for a 12x12 or 400 for an 8.5 x 11. This will create a file that will look fine on the screen, but is small enough for the internet. Write your name, phone number, address, and e-mail (if available) on each page submission. The page must be an original idea - no copied ideas will be accepted. Write detailed instructions on how you constructed each page. List the brand name, color, etc. of all products used, including paper, scissors, templates, pens, stamps, ink color, software, fonts, etc.
